For my first game I wanted to recreate the nostalgic feeling of the classic 2d platforming games we all know and love, with a pixel art style of course. There were a lot of unforeseen challenges with it being my first game and all, but after getting the basics to work, it started flowing nicely. Getting the art setup and ready to be implemented into the level and animating the character movements using flipbooks. A big thing I kept bumping into was layer priority, getting things to not block the movement and to look well. Realizing that I spend an hour placing stuff in the wrong layer and so forth, but slowly and surely I started to get the hang of it.
